On Partnerships and Marriage

Tita Rachel emailed me this story, and I thought it would make a good blog entry. Very nice article on marriage, especially the fact that it’s coming from a guy.

Executive summary: What lies ahead is a talk about marriage written by a Professor in Ateneo while he was still a student.

(Read more HERE.)

His love is killing me.

This is a repost from Rolland & Heidi Baker's awesome book There is Always Enough. Out of all the wonderful chapters in this book, this chapter made me weep and really drove me to my knees before my Lord.

If you're not familiar with Rolland and Heidi Baker and with what they do, they're actually full-time missionaries to the poor in Mozambique. They trust God for provision as they tend to the needs of thousands of poor, abandoned, forgotten and unloved people (specially children) in Mozambique. Their ministry is not an easy one, and not one that many would want to take on. Still, they hold fast to their calling and die to themselves as they keep on loving on Him and His children.

May His love kill you and me too.
(Read more HERE.)
How awesome is that?

I just realized. I'll be spending my 6th birthday in the Lord this Sunday with the Mangyan tribe in Mindoro.

How awesome is that?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I received 2 surprises in the mail today. First was a copy of Kevin Sanders' first book, "Basta Lovelife" (roughly translated as "Anything About Lovelife"). He sent it over via LBC (local version of FedEx) so I can have my own copy, so I won't have any excuse to not write a review about his book and have it published and promoted on www.kristiyanongpinoy.com. Hehehe.

Sidenote: Kuya Kevin is an American missionary to the Philippines and he has been ministering to the youth in the University Belt in downtown Manila. He has been a prolific blogger and has published his first book, a compilation of his most popular blog entries. (How's that for a sampler, huh? Hehe.)

I'm having my first bylines on Kristiyanong Pinoy this coming July.

How awesome is that?

---------------...

So... are you ready?

Okay.

So here I am... 11.5 hours away from a deadline, 27 hours away from our missions trip to Mindoro. Been chatting with a friend who's counting the hours till he "leaves civilization" (I know, such a mystery huh? He still won't tell what it's about. Hmph.), and he asks me this out of the blue:

(Read more HERE...)
Dream, Let Go, then Go.

I learned a very cool lesson from the Lord last week.

You see, I've been dreaming and wanting to do a lot for Him this year. Go to a lot of places, see His people, learn new things about Him and from Him. Very big dreams, for little old fearful me. One of my biggest dreams is to be able to go from place to place, bring His love, mercy and salvation to His children that need Him, and write about what He is doing in those places and among these people. This would mean that I would not have a full-time secular job, that my ministry would be my "job", and that I would be relying completely on God.
(Read more HERE...)

Spain ruled over the Philippines for 333 years, which ended only when America "purchased" the Philippines from Spain for 20 million dollars. Then the Philippines remained an American colony for the next 48 years, then was occupied by Japan for 3 years until they surrendered to General MacArthur and his allied forces in 1945. Filipinos finally had their own Republic for themselves, and the Philippines feebly tried to stand on her own two feet.

(Read more here...)
Give it up.

Okay... this is the last time I'm reposting a chapter from Tozer's Born After Midnight. That's too much reposting done from one single book. Anyway, you guys gotta read it. I heard this title isn't being printed anymore, so... there.

Big Daddy dealt with my heart (again) just last night. Frankly, I was put in my place. Finally, I had a revelation. This is what I wrote in my journal:

It's You that I need, Lord! (and nothing, no one else)

You're the only proof that I have! (that I can count on, that can confirm and defend me)

May my need (You) be my want, my burning desire, my obsession.

Let's Go Off the Defensive

by A.W.
Religion is a waste of time.

Fake, dead religion, that is. Jesus was very much against the religious spirit... shouldn't we be too?

Reposting Tozer's work again. I'm tempted to repost the entire book; it's that awesome!

I'm just kidding, I don't wanna face charges of plagiarism or what. Just a few chapters then... ;-P

The Tragedy of Wasted Religious Activity

by A.W. Tozer

There is probably not another field of human activity where there is so much waste as in the field of religion.

It is altogether possible to waste an hour in church or even in a prayer meeting. The popular "attend the church of your choice" signs that have lately been appearing everywhere may have some small value if they do no more than remind a materialistic civilization that this world is not all and that there are some treasures that cannot be bought with money. Yet we must not forget that a man may attend church for a lifetime and be none the better for it.

In the average church we hear the same prayers repeated each Sunday year in and year...

Here was my list (posted on Friendster):

...what do I want for my birthday? The disciples shooed them off. But Jesus intervened: “Let the children alone, don’t prevent them from coming to me. God’s kingdom is made up of people like these.” After laying hands on them, he left.16Another day, a man stopped Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

17Jesus said, “Why do you question me about what’s good?
Waiting for You by Seal

I've been grooving to this song ever since I saw this performed by Seal and Syesha Mercado... downloaded this just now... can't get enough of it! Makes me feel like the world's alright... right, Big Daddy? :D

Everyday, a shade of blue
You won't believe
What I'm going through
It just feels like I can't afford to let myself go
No, oohooo no...

Everyone is just the same
They touch me
But I can't say

There has been no one brighter than you
I can't deny these things that I do
Feels like the world's at stake 'cause
I have been waiting
I have been waiting for you

Heavenly, that's what you are
You're burnin' me like a shining star
How am I supposed to be that king without you
Ooohooo...it's true yea
